About

Thee Legacy, also known as Young Mbazo, is a South African contemporary Isicathamiya ensemble that blends traditional Isicathamiya harmonies with urban and modern influences like jazz, afro-soul, hip-hop, and R&B. They are primarily known for their acappella style.
They gained national recognition after winning the inaugural season of Sing Off South Africa in 2015, which aired on SABC 1 and resulted in a recording deal with Sony Music Entertainment Africa. The group’s members are Jabulani Mthembu, Khanyisani Mazibuko, Philani Duma, Emille Ngcobo, and Simphiwe Sikhakhane. Khanyisani Mazibuko is the son of Albert Mazibuko, one of the founding members of the Grammy-winning acappella group Ladysmith Black Mambazo. Thee Legacy was formed by the sons and grandsons of Ladysmith Black Mambazo, initially performing under the name Young Mbazo. They later changed their name to Thee Legacy to establish their own identity.
Thee Legacy has received nominations at the Metro FM Music Awards for Best Remix and the South African Music Awards (SAMA) for Best Remix. They have also been nominated by the South African Traditional Music Awards (SATMA) for Best Song of the Year, Best Isicathamiya Album, and Best New Group.
Their discography includes albums such as “Thee Legacy”, “Isicathamiya for a New Millennium”, “Thando (Remix) (feat. Mlindo The Vocalist)”, and “Ngiyazifela Ngawe”. Thee Legacy’s music has been featured as a soundtrack for the drama series Isithembiso and the film Wonder Boy the President. They have also collaborated with South African artists like Mlindo The Vocalist, DJ Maphorisa, Kwesta, Kid X, and Makwa.
